In this class, we will learn about the different types of research based on application, objectives, extent of theory, and time dimension.

Types of research include application, objectives, extent of theory, and time dimension.:

  • On the basis of application, research can be categorized by how it is applied.
  • Research based on objectives focuses on the goal of the research.
  • The extent of theory determines the scope of the research.
  • The time dimension considers the time frame of the research.

There are two types of research based on application: pure and applied research.:

  • Pure research is conducted without any specific problem in mind, focusing on exploring and searching for problems.
  • Applied research is conducted to solve specific problems and applies the findings to real-world situations.

Research can be categorized into pure/basic/fundamental research and applied research.:

  • Pure/basic/fundamental research is conducted without any specific problem in mind, while applied research focuses on identifying and solving specific problems.
  • Research can also be categorized based on objectives, including exploratory research, descriptive research, and explanatory research.

Research can be categorized into exploratory, descriptive, and casual experimental:

  • Exploratory research focuses on new concepts and insights
  • Descriptive research goes in depth and provides answers to specific queries
  • Casual experimental research investigates cause and effect relationships

The two types of research are theoretical and empirical.:

  • Theoretical research focuses on new ideas and not existing work.
  • Empirical research is based on direct observation and experience.

There are two types of research: Cross-sectional and Longitudinal.:

  • Cross-sectional research focuses on one point in time and is cost and time-effective.
  • Longitudinal research observes units multiple times, offering more data but requiring more time.

Longitudinal research can be divided into three parts: time series research, panel study research, and coherent study research.:

  • Time series research focuses on researching a specific time period and requires a predetermined research period.
  • Panel study research involves selecting the same category and group of people to easily obtain and analyze data.
  • Coherent study research is the opposite of panel study research and focuses on studying different groups and categories.

Different kinds of groups are being focused on in a comprehensive research study.:

  • The research encompasses all areas and categories of people.
  • The study aims to provide a coherent understanding of the subject.
  • Learning and spreading knowledge is encouraged through subscribing and sharing videos.
  • The ambition is to support students in their academic journey and help them achieve a bright career.
