In the Indian Constitution, fundamental rights are guaranteed under Part III (Articles 12-35), which includes rights such as right to equality, right to freedom, right against exploitation, right to freedom of religion, cultural and educational rights, and right to constitutional remedies. These rights are enforceable by the courts.
Directive principles of state policy are enshrined in Part IV (Articles 36-51) of the Constitution. These principles are guidelines for the state to establish an ideal socio-economic and political framework. The state is expected to apply these principles in making laws and policies to promote the welfare of the people.
Fundamental duties, a later addition to the constitution, are enumerated in Part IVA (Article 51A) of the Constitution. These duties are the moral obligations of all citizens to promote a spirit of patriotism and to uphold the unity of India. It includes duties such as respect for the national flag and anthem, promote harmony and the spirit of common brotherhood among all the people of India, and to strive towards excellence in all spheres of individual and collective activity.
